UK has
traditionally been a favourite destination for study. There is
a choice from over 100 universities and several colleges &
other recognised institutions. There is plenty of choice in
programmes and subjects. The mode of application for
undergraduate courses is usually through the UCAS
(Universities & Colleges Admission Service). It is dedicated
to assisting and processing student applications to degree
courses. Online application, through
www.ucas.ac.uk is
also possible. For postgraduate courses, students have to
apply directly to the institution.
Cost and Fee
The cost of
education varies. Scholarships are available for postgraduate
programmes. The average fees for undergraduate studies is Pounds
8,130 p.a for Science, Pounds 15,600 p.a. for medicine and
Pounds 6,210 p.a. for others.

fees for postgraduate studies is Pounds 8,200 p.a for Science,
Pounds 15,450 p.a. for Medicine and Pounds 6,303 p.a. for
others.
The cost of
living again depends on the city or town with average expenses
being in the range of Pounds 3,400 - Pounds 7,000 p.a.
Accommodation facilities can be had either on-campus (halls of
residence) or off-campus. Part time employment, a student can
work up to 20 hours a week part time, during academic session
and full time during vacation.
On campus
work can also be arranged. Some programmes are called sandwich
courses which allow the student to spend separate placements
away from university which amounts to one year. The biggest
advantage of such courses being practical training, earning
potential and gaining of valuable experience during course of
