the latest changes announced by
the Home Office to the HSMP
Programme on October 31, 2003.
The recent changes in the HSMP scheme mean:
Qualifying threshold is reduced
for all applicants to 65 points.
10 Extra points are available
for Skills of Spouse / Partner.
A special Assessment Scheme is
announced for those below 28 yrs
age.

There are very few people who
will gain any points at all under this category. You will need to have been
recognised at "national level" to come under significant achievement (15 points) or at "international
level" for outstanding achievement.
HSMP Priority Application*
(Maximum 50 points)
This is currently limited to
doctors who legally entitled
to work as General
Practitioners in the UK.
Spouse's
or Partner's Achievements*
(Maximum 10 points)
You can gain points
under this category if
you have been living
together with your
spouse or partner for at
least two years who has
a bachelors degree, or
equivalent vocational or
professional
qualifications, or has
experience in a graduate
level job.
UK
Job Market - IMPORTANT*
Unless you are are
already working
full-time in the UK and
will be doing similar
work if you are granted
HSMP status, or your
occupation is in a known
shortage area you should
carefully research the
UK job market to make
sure that you will find
graduate level work. You
do not need to have a
job offer. However, it
may be necessary for you
to provide some form of
documentary evidence
that you are likely to
find graduate level
work. This could be
information from
web-sites, newspaper
articles, letters from
prospective employers,
letters from recruiters,
etc.
